Last Saturday, October 5, zombies once again invaded the streets of Sitges in the 14th edition of the Zombie Walk, a key event within the Sitges Festival that brings together fans of the genre and those curious about the experience.

Since its beginnings, the Zombie Walk started as a side activity celebrating the zombie genre, but today it has become the festival signature, transforming the city into an apocalyptic stage where horror enthusiasts can live out the fantasy of becoming the living dead.

This unique and iconic event involves hard work behind the scenes, in collaboration with the Sitges Festival and the talent of professional makeup artists, who offer their services free of charge to attendees during the first part of the day.

As in previous editions, several makeup stations were set up during daylight hours (12 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.) so that participants could transform into their own terrifying post-mortem versions. With a limited number of slots available across the Sitges Film Festival Tent, Casino Prado, and the city's port, more than 400 people were made up to look like real zombies.

Additionally, this year a Makeup Competition was held at 4 p.m. in the Meeting Area (Avinguda Balmins, 21), sponsored by Amazon Prime to promote Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End (Carles Torrens, 2024). This competition allowed makeup professionals to showcase their skills, creating their interpretation of the living dead live, offering a fresh approach compared to previous editions' costume contests for the general public.

As usual, before the official start of the Zombie Walk, the IAB Dance School of Sitges presented its latest choreography to the public at 8:30 p.m., providing a terrifyingly good show.

Finally, at 8:45 p.m., the march began, with makeup on both young and old participants showcasing the creativity of professionals and amateurs alike, in an experience that brings together families and friends, encouraging the most twisted walks and the most guttural screams.

The Zombie Walk is not only an opportunity for horror fans to enjoy and express themselves, but it also strengthens the community spirit and cultural appeal of Sitges, making it a must-attend event on the calendar for genre lovers.
